Crafty Jack creates original and distinctive fabric gift ideas. I design and make bespoke bags and have a Christmas range of stockings and Advent Calendars. My studio is located among the tee tree and sand dunes of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia.
I attend local markets on the Mornington Peninsula, the Art Centre Sunday Market in Melbourne, and attend featured markets both within Victoria and interstate.
All of my products are bespoke, individually hand cut out and sewn, so variation on size may occur. I take great pride that I use locally produced and woven Melbourne fabric in my bags, both Waterproof and Cotton, this is very unique to Crafty Jack. The webbing used on the Swag Bags is also woven in Melbourne. My PVC Waterproof bags use colour exclusive fabric, only found with Crafty Jack products. Using superior quality products on all of my designs is why Crafty Jack products are lightweight, made to use and last.
I LOVE FABRICS! Stimulating in their properties, fabrics are beauty, mysterious, sensual and magnificent. I grew up with fabrics at a young age; my Grandmother was a prolific sewer and knitter. I enjoyed fabric shopping with her – it was like being in a sweetshop, so much to see and feel. 20+ years ago I retired as Head of a Creative Arts Faculty at a secondary school in the UK. When I moved permanently to Australia soon after, I was able to pursue my long term ‘hobby’ and turn my enjoyment of fabrics into a full time business, designing fabric gifts. Crafty Jack was born – my artistic expression became a reality.
Since I started the business, I have always worked with Designer Fabrics. My background was influenced by my extensive use of many European fabrics. I am excited to be able to share my skills, experience, expertise and passion with my customers. I love designing and developing ideas, I thrive on the intricacy of the construction and I pride myself on the high quality finish, original ideas and presentation of my products and market stall. One day I will find enough hours in a day to develop the designs which are itching to escape from my head. I hope that you find my fabric gifts original, well made, functional and aesthetically pleasing.
